The Western Canada Institute for ISTDP (WCII) was formed in 2012 to promote and support the practice of Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy and provide links to the greater ISTDP community.

The original founding members included Diane Anderson, Kent Sargeant, Tim Yates and Robert Pogue; a group of psychiatrists, psychologists and psychotherapists who had completed the 3-Year Core Training in Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy, as well as several advanced trainings.

WCII sponsored a Core Training group led by Dr. Josette Ten Have-de Labije, Dr. Robert J. Neborsky, and Dr. Robin Kay from 2014-2017.

In 2016, WCII was pleased to host Jon Frederickson in providing a Supervision Day in ISTDP in Calgary and in 2019 a professional training day with Dr. Allan Abbass.

Likewise, WCII is proud to sponsor another 3-Year ISTDP Core Training program (2018-2021) in Calgary, led by Jon Frederickson and Diane Byster.
